John C. Luk, MD

Dr. John LukDr. John Luk joined the faculty of the Austin Pediatric Education Program (now UT Southwestern Austin Pediatrics) at Children's Hospital of Austin (now Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas) as a Hospitalist in September 2001 after a brief period of private practice in northern California. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and attended Hahnemann University School of Medicine (now Drexel University College of Medicine) in Philadelphia. Dr. Luk completed his Pediatrics residency at the Children's Hospital Oakland in Oakland, California, where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Luk is board-certified in Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

As a Pediatric Hospitalist, he provides care to hospitalized children of our community and has interests in Family Centered Care, Interprofessionalism, and Medical Education. He co-chairs the planning committee for the Dell Children's Annual Pediatric Conference. As a faculty member of UTMB School of Medicine, he has served as the Austin Pediatric Clerkship Director and presently serves as the Assistant Dean for Regional Medical Education, in which he oversees the educational experiences and well-being of UTMB medical students in Austin. In 2007, he was elected to the UTMB Academy of Master Teachers and garnered the accolade of Distinguished Teaching Professor from the University of Texas System.

Dr. Luk enjoys hiking, photography, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.
