Phillip Berry, MD
Dr. Phillip Berry was the first full time Pediatric Nephrologist in Austin, treating children with kidney-related disorders, those on dialysis or in need of kidney transplant.
He came to Austin from the University of Arkansas Children's Hospital where, as professor of Pediatrics, he served as the Vice Chairman for Education of the Department of Pediatrics and Director of the Nephrology Section. He is the former chairman of the Section on Nephrology of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Originally from Corpus Christi, Dr. Berry received his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and his M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine. After completing his residency training at the Baylor-affiliated hospitals in Houston and Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., he continued his training in Pediatric Nephrology at the Children's Hospital Research Foundation in Cincinnati. He returned to Baylor in 1980 where he established the end-stage renal disease program at Texas Children's Hospital before moving to Arkansas in 1991.
Dr. Berry is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
