Dr. Sarmistha B. Hauger has more than 25 years of experience in the practice of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Hauger received her undergraduate training at The University of Texas at El Paso, and her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago's Stritch School of Medicine in 1976. She completed her pediatric residency and pediatric infectious diseases fellowship training at the University of Chicago, Wyler Children's Hospital.
After training, she served on the faculties of the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago and at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.
She has practiced in Austin since 1996, and serves as the Medical Director of the Infectious Disease program at Dell Children's Medical Center, and 'Specially For Children Medical Subspecialists of Central Texas. She also is an active faculty member of the Austin Pediatric Education Program, in charge of the Infectious Disease curriculum for physicians in training in pediatric medicine. She has lectured extensively on pediatric infectious disease topics, and has authored numerous journal articles and served in an advisor capacity to public health authorities in Texas and New York.
Dr. Hauger is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the Subspecialty Board of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics as well as the Infectious Disease Society of America.
